Comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi has given his opion on the ongoing dispute between National Unity Platform president Bobi Wine and Eddy Kenzo. A few days ago, Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, accused artistes who had joined the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), calling them as ‘beggars.’ This remark greatly hurt Kenzo, also known as Edirisa Musuuza, who is the federation’s president.
In response, Kenzo responded back with a vehement message, encouraging that the federation’s primary objective is to advocate for copyright laws, not to beg the government.

In a social media post, Kenzo answered saying: “You receive salaries from the very Government you claim to fight against. We are fighting for musicians’ copyrights and all their rights, so how can you call us beggars? How?”
Responding to the matter, Salvado said that the two artistes misunderstood each other. In his view, both Bobi and Kenzo are attaining the same goal, but Kenzo may have misunderstood Bobi Wine’s message. Salvado believes that Bobi Wine too should have used a better word like ‘lobby’ instead of ‘beg.’
“They are both attempting to convey the same message, albeit using different approaches. The problem here lies in the English language. Bobi Wine’s use of the word ‘beggars’ may have been inappropriate. Kenzo might have misunderstood him, but nonetheless, both of them are striving for the same cause,” Salvado said.
The misunderstanding between these two musicians led to a debate on social media, with some arguing that Kenzo’s grasp of various English phrases may be lacking, while others claimed that Bobi Wine’s choice of words has painted him as the antagonist.
